AYCH LEGACY

AYCH Legacy isn’t only a « what works story ». With an Internet hub (Aych2030.eu) you will have access to different channels. You can access to the book, which relates and links the AYCH cornerstones and the story, the Wiki which delivers the tool box in an open source version and detailed framework, and a progression support desk, which connects people, experiences, to make your own path with AYCH.

AYCH Legacy delivers an experience, a way. But there is something beyond AYCH.

First of all, AYCH Legacy has a message in education. At L’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique, we decided to include this process as part of the curriculum. We not only worked with students, but as a professional team. We gave them confidence and self-awareness. They produced tools for facilitation, discovered MIRO which is the core tool of our workshops. We changed the mindset : when I saw « poor quality » prototypes (first impression) in Vida Lactea or Space, Richard or Xose told me : this is the first time they have produced something by hand, this is the first time an International expert has said : it’s worth, go on. AYCH makes me understand that education is more an experience than a programme.

AYCH Legacy also has a message on the value of design. We had to redesign AYCH to succeed, to adapt ourselves, to vision and vocabulary. AYCH Legacy celebrates this approach that encourages dialogue, diversity, flexibility… Design thinking has been the way to transform AYCH into an education path with meaningful experience, that builds self-confidence, trust, and openness.

Most of all, Aych legacy is anchored, nourished by European values : a way to collaborate, to build something resilient trough the crises (Brexit, COVID). We were resilient, because we were mainly driven by values, utopia. Indeed, and we accelerated our process during the crises.

We are in the darkest times of human history. I have no doubt that this crisis drives us towards a new world. Aych leaves with a method, an approach, a way to bring new ideas into life. And we have this urgent challenge to design this « new world ». « When it’s dark enough, you can see stars »… I hope Aych could be one of these stars that guides you through an unknown path of cooperation, knowledge sharing, ideas spreading, something youth oriented where everything is possible… With AYCH, we embodied the vision that gave birth to another utopia, Europe, that turns such dreams into reality.

AYCH Challenges from Europe

The purpose of the Youth Summit is to encourage reflections around 3 challenges that have been at the core of AYCH’s actions: Social EntrepreneurshipCreative Education and Workforce of Tomorrow. At this event, we provide an opportunity to young people to think, to present and to share their vision to their peers and a wider audience. AYCH is providing the framework for young people to work collaboratively to build official recommendations for an Agenda 2030 and is committed to raise this at a European level.

Challenge #1: Social Entrepreneurship

The objective of this roundtable is to break the stereotypes around the paradox between entrepreneurship and sustainability. By definition, entrepreneurship should be in contradiction with sustainability, because producing wealth is damaging the earth. Yet, it is unrealistic to expect a world without entrepreneurs and not desirable also since growth is mandatory for the development of a country and to erase poverty.

Therefore, social entrepreneurship is necessary in order to combine the two notions. But how is it fair to ask a young person to sacrifice its profit in order for their business to respect sustainable criterion when older business didn’t have to take that into account? What is the limit? That will be the whole point of this roundtable. Besides, there will be a specific focus on the blue economy because of the growing place it’s taking nowadays.

Challenge #2: From Creative Education to Impactful Careers

This round table brings together in conversation professionals from different disciplines who make a societal impact through their work within creative education, the arts, and community-led initiatives. Through sharing pedagogical innovations and inspiring career stories  they will explore ideas about creative ways of learning, how creative professionals are able to make a substantial social and environmental impact within their careers and impactfully shape our society, and how these relate to the aspirations of young people in the contemporary world.

Challenge #3: Workforce of Tomorrow

The way we do work is changing rapidly. This round table will explore the ways we will work from now on and the news skills that are required. Hard skills are no longer the most important, being quickly replaced by soft skills and a creative mindset. What are the skills of tomorrow?

Also, remote positions are taking people from offices and revolutionizing everything. How do we see into the future and prepare for the unknown?

Gather your crystal ball, because these are the questions that we will try to answer during this event to map how the workforce of tomorrow is going to be!

30 recommendations for a Creative Europe: Agenda 2030

Working with creative methods during 44 months has shown us the importance of implementing creativity at different levels of decision making, as well as revealing the possibilities of change for people and the impacts on territories.

We are keen to and accept the responsibility to accompany young people in their design of  an official Agenda 2030: 30 recommendations for a Creative Europe. AYCH partners are setting the framework for young people to think, to share and to design collectively actionable and aspirational recommendations for a creative Europe. Partners are committed to bring this Agenda 2030 to the European Parliament in the name of European young people.

The objective of this facilitated discussion is to bring together the work of Challenges 1-3, to focus on the top 3 prepositions of each of the challenges with an expert in the field & achieve a live signature of the declaration by partners.

AYCH YOUTH SUMMIT

by Xosé L. Garza (Chair of Communication)

This is the last AYCH event! Its mission is to collectively design a desirable future for Europe. (registration link)

The first Challenge of our Youth Summit week is about Social Entrepreneurship. Young European professionals will demonstrate through inspiring projects that entrepreneurship using resources in a responsible way is possible with the example of the blue economy. The second day of our Youth Summit week is about will look at innovative and inspiring  approaches to education and work and how they can impactfully shape our society. Designing now for better Tomorrow!. This third day will explore the ways we will work from now on and the news skills that are required. How do we see into the future and prepare for the unknown? Gather your crystal ball, because these are the questions that we will try to answer during this event to map how the workforce of tomorrow is going to be!. And the last day: 30 recommendations for a Creative Europe > The objective of this facilitated discussion is to bring together the work of Challenges 1, 2, 3, and to collectively design an official declaration to raise at a European level in the name of young people.

Will young people be able to meet the challenges of the future Europe? Have they appreciated non-formal education as another important opportunity for their development? Will they be able to develop the work of the future? Will they provide solutions to youth unemployment in Europe? …

This transnational event will be in the Brest Metropole as host partner and has been masterfully designed by project manager Philippine Mahe de L’École de Design Nantes-Atlantique and will be led by project manager Callum Elliot from Space*, partners of our project.

At the same time, Space* has created a virtual exhibition through a multimedia platform where we will be able to enjoy Aych’s last exhibition from Monday, March 22, before the end of the project; the direction of this great work has been Richard Doak.

Some partners have been working on Aych’s Legacy led by one of the project’s ideologues, Florent Orsoni, laying the methodological foundations for Aych’s results to have dimension beyond the project’s completion.

You will be able to see these results at the Final Conference of the project that will be on March 26 in the morning (registration link).
